Cat Tools, Which ones to use in 2022?!

With so many products out there to help keep our furbabies clean and healthy, it may be difficult to choose what is best for us and our cats. As many of you know, cats love the way they look! Constantly grooming themselves and looking chique. After several years of grooming and going through my cat masters course, I have found the following tools work best for my kitties at home and for my clients.

Hi! I'm Alex!

I have a passion for animals and their care! I have created Alex's Paw Spa and this blog to share my knowledge with you to better care for your pets and keep them happy and healthy!

1. Clippers: I prefer to use cordless clippers as it is easiest to move about without any cords swinging in the way. I have two that I like and they are both by Wahl. There are great reviews on the Persian Cat Corner. If you do your research you will see that these are good clippers and work really well. They are easy to use and come with several sizes of guard combs. Make sure to see my video on how to use a guard comb here

  • The other clippers I like are also from Wahl. These clippers work very well on many different coat types. From dogs to cats to even horses! Even though these are cordless clippers, give off enough power for me to work the furbabies without having to worry if they are going to last or not.

2. Nail Clippers: Of course we need those clippers to save us from our sweeties’ little weapons! These can be fairly affordable and many work great! The pair that I use is by Millers Forge Nail Clippers. These work perfectly. They fit my hands so they are comfortable to use and they are sharp to get the job done quickly! They also have many great reviews! Check out how to trim cats nails video!

3. Shears: Kenchii shears have proven to be the best for me. I have tried many types of shears to fit my hands over the years and these are by far my favorite. Make sure to oil your blades and shears, as well as sanitize them and get them sharpened every couple months so that they continue to give the best results possible! I also prefer shears that range between 7-8 inches in length as a personal preference.

4. Brush: As far as brushes go, this Chris Christensen brush is a must have. It may seem a little pricey but it is certainly worth every penny. It has definitely earned the 5 star rating on Amazon and there are several video reviews to show it. Not only does it work great on cats but also my poodle at home and for goldendoodles!

5. Comb: This Chris Christensen Comb, called the butter comb, is exactly that. Combs through like butter! It is a nice size at 7.5 inches and glides perfectly through the coats of cats or dogs. I have been using this comb for many years and it has certainly withstood the wear. There are two ends to it with wide teeth and the other with finer teeth. Both ends are great for combing of any kind with the finer teeth will ensure that you rid of all of those pesky little mats.

6. Ultra Absorbent Towel: With all of the fur that kitties have this towel works perfectly. Some cats may not particularly enjoy the dryer so we want to get as much water off of them as possible before we use it. This towel absorbs most of the excess water before we towel dry. This towel is to be kept wet and must be rinsed off before use.
